Publication Ethics and Author's Guideline
The International Journal of Asia Digital Art and Design (Print ISSN: 1738-8074 / Online ISSN: 2189-7441) has been continuously published since 2004 by the Asia Digital Art and Design Association (ADADA). Originally launched as a print journal, it transitioned to an online-only publication via J-STAGE in 2012. The journal has been indexed in Scopus since 2020.
Since 2025, all newly published articles have been distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. Selected articles published before 2025 are also available as open access based on permissions obtained from the respective authors.

The journal publishes original scholarly works related to digital art, design, media technology, interaction design, computational creativity, and interdisciplinary research connecting art, science, and technology.
2. Qualifications for Submission
All authors of submitted manuscripts must be registered as ADADA members through the myADADA system.
ADADA membership is free of charge.
3.Language
All manuscripts must be written in English.
4. Types of Articles
Original Article
Original Articles present theoretical, empirical, technical, or experimental studies related to digital art and design based on media technology. Submissions must demonstrate originality, academic contribution, and scientific or artistic value.
Art Paper
Art Papers present artistic experiments, creative practices, production processes, and critical discussions related to digital art and design. Submissions should demonstrate originality in concept, representation, methodology, or expression.
5. Submission Policy
Submitted manuscripts must be original and unpublished. Manuscripts must not be simultaneously submitted to, accepted by, or published in another journal, conference proceeding, or publication.
Duplicate submission, plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, and other forms of research or publication misconduct are strictly prohibited.
Submitted manuscripts may be screened for plagiarism prior to peer review.
6. Editorial Structure
The journal is administered by the ADADA Editorial Committee.

The Editorial Committee follows the ethical principles defined in the ADADA Codes of Ethics for Editors, Reviewers, Authors, and Publishers.
The journal appoints meta reviewers and reviewers for each submitted manuscript as part of the peer review process.
7. Peer Review Process
All submitted manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review.
Each manuscript is reviewed by:
- Two reviewers
- One meta reviewer
Reviewers evaluate the manuscript and provide reports and recommendations to the meta reviewer.
Based on the reviewers’ evaluations, the meta reviewer recommends one of the following decisions:
- Accept
- Conditional Accept
- Reject
Final editorial decisions are made by the Editorial Committee.
Revised manuscripts may undergo an additional round of review when necessary.
Authors are notified of editorial decisions by the ADADA Editorial Office.
The Editorial Committee may recommend changing the article category when appropriate.
8. Publication Ethics
The International Journal of Asia Digital Art and Design is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics and editorial integrity.
Authors, reviewers, editors, and publishers are expected to follow ethical standards throughout the submission, review, and publication process.
The Journal does not tolerate:
- Plagiarism
- Duplicate submission
- Fabrication or falsification of data
- Improper authorship
- Manipulation of the peer review process
- Copyright infringement
In cases of suspected or confirmed misconduct, the Editorial Committee may conduct investigations and take appropriate action, including:
- Rejection of the manuscript
- Publication of corrections or errata
- Retraction of published articles
- Notification to affiliated institutions when necessary
9. Conflict of Interest
Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any conflicts of interest that could influence the editorial, review, or publication process.
10. Author Responsibilities
Authors are responsible for ensuring that:
- All listed authors have made appropriate academic contributions
- All authors approve the submitted manuscript
- The manuscript does not infringe any copyright or intellectual property rights
- Necessary permissions for copyrighted materials have been obtained
- Ethical considerations are appropriately addressed
11. Length of Manuscripts
Manuscripts should generally be between 6 and 10 pages, excluding references.
12. Publication Fees
Authors of accepted articles are required to pay a publication fee of USD 400 per article prior to publication.
13. Dates of Receipt and Publication
All submissions are officially recorded with the date of receipt.
For revised manuscripts, the revised submission date is also recorded.
Articles published online are considered officially published on the date they appear online.
14. Open Access and Copyright
Articles published from 2025 onward are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license.
Authors retain copyright of articles published under the CC BY 4.0 license.
For articles published before 2025, copyright conditions may differ depending on the publication period and permissions obtained from the respective authors.
